Judge approves interpreter for child abuse suspect | Crime

A Madison County judge approved the hiring of an interpreter for a woman accused of leaving her three small children locked in a bedroom.

Norma Garcia is charged with three counts of torture-willful abuse of a child.

Garcia's attorney filed a motion stating his client does not speak English. That attorney will now work with Garcia through an interpreter.

Jose Vargas is also charged in this case. He's expected in court Wednesday for a felony exam.
