Light pole installation will cause detours on SR255 | News

The Alabama Department of Transportation will install light poles along State Route 255 beginning October 7 and going through October 10.

State Route 255 will be temporarily closed between mile markers 4.858 (Plummer Road) and 8.154 (Kelly Cemetery Road) during that time. The closures will be one direction and will be done in sections.

Traffic will be detoured during the closures.

The State Route 255 closure schedule between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. each day is as follows, weather permitting: 

• Sunday, October 7 – Southbound Kelly Cemetery Road to Highway 53.
• Monday, October 8 – Southbound from Highway 53 to Plummer Road.
• Tuesday, October 9 – Northbound from Plummer Road to Highway 53.
• Wednesday, October 10 – Northbound from Highway 53 to Kelly Cemetery Road.

ALDOT recommends drivers consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival and departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in the area.
