Strip club owner files lawsuit against Huntsville | News

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- A business man is taking civil action against the city of Huntsville.

Court documents filed on Thursday state the man believes the city denied him a liquor license to his strip club because of his race.

The documents go into great detail about Daryl Williams and his business, Volcano Enterprises, Incorporated.

Williams has tried to open an adult entertainment business off the 4300 block of University Drive.

Court records state Williams invested more than $80,000 in the business.

He said various agencies, including the Huntsville Police Department, looked into the building and forced him to bring it up to code, which he did.

He applied for a liquor license in 2012 but was denied. He appealed to the Huntsville City Council and was denied again.

The legal paperwork claims an adjacent business owner, Caucasian, was a granted a liquor license for his business during the same application period that the plaintiffs were denied.

Williams is asking the court to grant him a liquor license.

He's also seeking damages against the city because he claims they denied his license because he's black.
