Feds: Mortgage fraud ring nets $623,000 in bad loans

An Atlanta woman faces federal charges, accused of providing false financial information for home buyers in Alabama.

Federal Investigators say Melneka Parker operated a business in Huntsville called Elite Business Services. The business opened in 2008.

Investigators say the fraudulent mortgages totaled more than $623,000.

Parker is charged with three counts of aiding and abetting others in the making of false statements on mortgage loans applications.

According to federal investigators Parker was part of a larger mortgage fraud ring. Agents say she submitted false payroll and income information to financial institutions so her clients would be eligible for mortgages.

Gloria Allen and Crystal Douglas, both of Huntsville, also face charges in this investigation.

See the Huntsville/Madison County Home Builders Association's 2010 Showcase Home!

The 2010 Showcase Home, an annual project of the Huntsville/Madison Builders Association, is located at 6348 Midtowne Lane in MidTowne on the Park in Huntsville. The construction manger is Mark Rovere of Action Builders Inc. Through the contributions, either in products or services, of many Association members, Mark and the Action Builders team were able to build this beautiful, but functional home.

The house, an early classical revival home called "The Savannah," is designed by Julie Barfield. This 1800s colonial offers a two story entry porch with eight Roman Doric columns. As you enter the home you will notice the "old world" styling with its extensive trim and moldings, faux finished walls, red oak hardwood flooring and lighting.

Statewide Fire Alert

Effective 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010, all 67 counties in the state of Alabama have been placed under a Fire Alert. The order was issued today by State Forester Linda S. Casey.
