Roads closed for utility work

Wednesday, May 29th:

Utility work to affect traffic on Drake Avenue on Monday, June 3rd.

Huntsville Utilities will close the outside west bound lane of Drake Avenue from Whitesburg Drive to L&N Drive again on Monday, June 3rd, weather permitting.

The closure is necessary so that HU crews can finish work on natural gas lines along Drake Avenue. This utility work is an extension of the present lane closure that was slated to end on Friday, May 31st.

These lane closures will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the lane will be reopened at 2:00 p.m.

Friday, May 31st:

Huntsville Utilities will close the two inside lanes, north and south bound as well as the turn lane of Triana Blvd. at Long Ave. early Friday morning at 1:00 a.m. The two outside lanes in both directions will remain open to traffic.

The closure is necessary so that HU crews can replace natural gas lines along Triana Blvd.

Utility work to affect traffic on Drave Avenue beginning May 28.

Huntsville Utilities will close the outside west bound lane of Drake Avenue from Whitesburg Drive to L&N Drive each day beginning Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May, 31.

The closure is necessary so that HU crews can replace natural gas lines along Drake Avenue.

These lane closures will begin each day at 7:30 a.m. and the lane will be reopened at 2:00 p.m.

Power interruption for Bonnell Drive Area Friday

Huntsville Utilities crews will interrupt power in the Sparkman Drive/Bonnell Drive area of west Huntsville Friday morning, March 8.

Crews will be replacing underground power cables.

The interruption will begin at 9:00 a.m., and should be completed by noon.

The following streets will be affected by the outage:

Bonnell Drive, Torrance Drive and Medland Road.

St. Clair Ave. to close for utility work

St. Clair Ave. to close for utility work

Huntsville Utilities will be closing St. Clair Avenue Friday and Saturday for utility work.

St. Clair Avenue between Pelham Avenue and Facklet Street in Medical District will be closed so workers can install underground utility lines.

The closure will be from 5 a.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The public will still have access to Big Spring Manor from the intersection of Pelham Avenue and St. Clair Avenue.

DUI checkpoints announced

The Huntsville Police Department announced a list of DUI checkpoints which will be enforced through New Year’s Eve.

Officials said they will be proactive in enforcing Alabama DUI laws over the holiday weekend.

DUI checkpoints will be located at University Drive at Jordan Lane, US 72 East between Epworth and Moore’s Mill Road, Oakwood Avenue and Pulaski Pike, North Memorial Parkway at Sparkman Drive, Jordan Lane at Sparkman Drive, South Memorial Parkway at Meadowbrook Drive and Airport Road and Whitesburg Drive.
