Tuesday night meeting on widening Zierdt Road | Transportation

This is your chance to learn more about a widening project in Madison County and to give DOT officials your ideas.

There's a hearing Tuesday night about widening Zierdt Road to five lanes from south of Martin Road to Madison Boulevard.

The hearing is from 5 to 7 p.m. at Williams Elementary School in Huntsville.

There's hope this project would improve the safety on Zierdt Road.

WAFF 48 News has covered dozens of bad accidents on that road, including one back in August.

The driver of a truck was ejected when he drove off the road and hit an embankment. Amazingly, he survived.

Unfortunately, one of the drivers in another wreck was not so lucky.

The accident happened back in June, also on Zierdt Road. Trina Anderson died when she crossed the center line in her Jeep Cherokee and hit another car. The Cherokee flipped several times.
